About StatusWire
A single, organized feed for U.S. immigration and visa news — built for people navigating H-1B, F-1/OPT, green card, and related processes who are tired of checking a dozen different sites to keep up.
Why this exists
Immigration news is scattered. A single policy change might surface first in a government press release, get contextualized by a legal nonprofit a day later, and get picked up by a handful of major outlets over the following week — each with a slightly different framing. Following all of that by hand means bookmarking a long list of sites and checking each one separately.
StatusWire pulls all of it into one place, organized by visa type and topic, so the question “what actually changed with H-1B this week” has one answer instead of ten browser tabs.
Where the news comes from
Every article on this site is sourced from a public RSS feed and links directly back to the original publisher — we never rewrite or republish a source's reporting as our own. The source list spans four kinds of publishers:
- 🏛️ Government feeds — Federal Register, Congress.gov, agency press releases
- ⚖️ Legal and advocacy organizations — ACLU, NIJC, American Immigration Council
- 📰 Major news outlets — NYT, NPR, Politico, Vox, and others
- 🔬 Policy and research institutions — Brookings, Cato, Pew
That mix is deliberate: a government feed tells you what changed, a legal organization tells you what it means for someone actually going through the process, and a major outlet tells you how it's playing out publicly. The feed refreshes every 15 minutes.
How “Full Coverage” works
When the same story is reported by multiple sources, StatusWire doesn't just list five near-duplicate headlines — it groups them into one storyline and generates a condensed summary that draws from all of them, so no single outlet's framing dominates the story. That grouping and summarizing is done with algorithmic text analysis (term-frequency comparison and extractive sentence-ranking) run directly on the article text, not a third-party AI service — it's deterministic, source-attributed, and runs the same way every time.
You'll see this as a “Full Coverage” panel on articles that have independent corroboration from other outlets, and as a topic digest on category pages summarizing the biggest multi-source storylines in that visa category right now.
Editorial Policy Snapshot
Beyond the automated feed, the Policy Briefs section is original written analysis — a running, hand-maintained log of what actually changed for each visa category and why it matters, organized by year, rather than just a chronological list of headlines.
What StatusWire is not
StatusWire is a news aggregator, not a law firm, government agency, or visa service. It doesn't offer legal advice, doesn't file paperwork on anyone's behalf, and doesn't charge for access. Full details are in the Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
